Our resident lawyer, Dan McLennon, and his colleague Bob Buchanan, will explore and unpack with us:The faultless subcontractor who had to pay over $150k on a construction defect claimThe contractor who paid too much in taxes or lost business opportunities due to wrong choice of entityThe contractor who had to disgorge all payments and forgo any compensation be-cause he cheated workers’ compensationThe contractor who built a fine busi-ness but had nothing to sell at retire-ment. Dan McLennon has represented general contractors, subcontractors, owners, and developers for over 20 years in hundreds of work-outs, mediations, arbitrations, and lawsuits. With his assistance, clients have resolved license and discipline issues, payment and delay claims, contract disputes, lien and stop notice claims, defect actions, and landlord-tenant actions, along with general civil litigation matters. Dan has a special passion for making insurance companies live up to their promises to contractors.

 

Bob Buchanan represents startups and emerging growth companies, providing a broad range of services including business purchase and sale transactions, LLC and corporate formations (including startup investments), drafting contracts and agreements, and business tax planning and consultation. His clients represent a variety of industries, including construction, advertising, information technology and e-commerce, biotechnology, retail and consumer goods. Mr. Buchanan is a U.S. Army veteran (broadcast journalist) holding an LL.M. in Taxation from New York University, a law degree (magna cum laude) from Gonzaga, and an B.A. from University of Alaska.
